Married | Brienna & Luke – Arts Ballroom Wedding Photographer

Ever since I met this amazing couple for coffee at a Starbucks – I knew they were perfect. So incredibly in love and genuinely fun to be around. From that very first conversation to their awesome engagement session in Rittenhouse Square at the end of last year – I knew I couldn’t wait to be a part of their big day. From the perfectly picked peonies (my favorite flower of course) to the simple elegance of Brienna’s dress. The day was perfect. On a very sunny, 95 degree day, Brienna and Luke were married in front of their family and friends at the Arts Ballroom in Philadelphia. Every last detail was perfect – down the the cake topper that summed them up perfectly (see below). I have to thank the amazing girls at Kyle Michelle Weddings for planning everything so perfectly with Brienna and Luke – you guys are fabulous! I wish you both more happiness that you can have in a lifetime! Hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon in Paris and Italy! I loved photographing you day – and I hope you love the photos as much as I do!

Life As I Know It | A Day in the Life – March – South Jersey Photographer

Late last month, I decided after seeing a truly fabulous article in Clickin’ Moms Magazine – CLICK, that I wanted to document a day in my life. So I started as soon as I got up and shot almost constantly through the day. (I did stop shooting while I was trying to get some work done in my office!) It was so much fun to document the entire day. Cooper grew tired of it very quickly – having a camera in his face all day. I hope you enjoy a day in the life of ME!!
Because it’s totally normal to find a plastic lemon in the crib.

You guys may remember Amelia from her newborn session back in September. Well where did these last 6 months go. It’s amazing to watch little ones grow up right before my eyes – and so quickly too! Well at 6 months she’s grown into a sweet and adorable little girl. She’s the love of her parents life. (Who happen to be great people themselves!) I had a blast rolling around on the floor with Sarah, Justin and our sweet little 6 month old Amelia. They don’t get much sweeter than this little girl. Smiles until the very end. Everytime I see this family, I try to get them to adopt me. Talk about an extremely loving and extremely caring family. When Jamie, one of my brides from 2011 called me and asked if I’d do a HUGE extended family shoot, I was thrilled. Spending time with this family is something to look forward too! We set up the session on Jamie’s uncle’s farm – it was the perfect setting for their family photos. I love getting to spend a little bit of time with all the little families within this awesome large family! And a special thanks to Jamie and her mom Cheryl for keeping us organized with a detailed list of all the family shots!! You guys are great to work with! Hope we get to do it again soon! Enjoy some of the shots from our session!

Quite a few weeks ago, I took this sweet family’s photos! They headed out in the semi-cold to take some photos for Christmas. Talk about cute! I think I tried to take all three of these girls home with me! (Especially the littlest one – oh my gosh, little girls are just to die for!) I can’t believe how good the girls were. They all smiled BIG HUGE smiles and were so much fun to hang out with! It’s clients like these that make me want to spend all day taking their pictures!! Life As I Know It | November Self Portrait

Well, as usual, my self portrait for the month is late. In my own defense, it’s because I’ve literally been SLAMMED under work. Christmas cards. Christmas portraits. Albums. It feels like it just never ends. However, the end is in sight – then it’ll be on to wrapping presents and finishing my tree skirt! Ha Ha…. But in November, I spent lots of time with Cooper (go figure). But this particular picture came from New York City – Rockefeller Center specifically. Spending time with my family at the holidays is my favorite thing – like ever. Christmas is my favorite holiday (with the excepption of my birthday) – so I spend lots of time singing and laughing and really jus enjoying my extremely large family during this time. So enjoy my November photo – my sister took it while my mom and Chas danced around like crazy people to get his attention – all he wanted to do was look at the tree! Happy December!

Head Shots | Dina Marie

A few days ago one of my very good friends from college called and asked if I would do head shots of her! This is the girl that was my “little sister” through many seasons of college tennis (and for many years since). She’s since graduated, done the grad school thing and is now taking the world by storm. Not only is she a truly gifted artist but she’s a wonderful person. So when she told me she needed head shots for the childrens’ book she’s illustrating and for an alumni project at our college – I couldn’t say no. When she’s not teaching, or giving private art lessons, or illustrating childrens’ books, she’s building her business. So not only is she all those things I mentioned, but she’s an amazing graphic designer as well! I love how these turned out – thanks Dina!

Her Mom and I have been really good friends ever since we worked for the same heath care system. Then I left to pursue my passion for photography and we stayed close. She was in my wedding (and Abby was there as well) and I can’t tell you how happy I am that we’re still so close! I’ve watched this little girl grow up (from afar because they live an hour and a half away from us) and wow, I can’t believe she’s already 1 year old. She’s got such a great smile and a fabulous little personality. (Except when I took these pictures, she wasn’t too happy – hungry and tired!) So when Angela and Kevin asked me to drive up to do Abby’s 1 year photos – I couldn’t resist! Thanks for staying close and keeping us in your lives! Happy 1 year Abigail!

When this family called me and said they wanted to do a family session in Avalon, I was thrilled! I pulled up to their street (where they were all ready and waiting, so fabulous) and knew instantly that I loved this family. Dressed in navy and white with huge smiles on their faces, I knew that this session was going to be awesome! Everyone was excited about this shoot (even the guys and the little ones!) and so was I! One of my all time favorite babies turned 9 months last weekend. What a stinkin’ cutie he is! So Chas, Cooper and I hopped in the car and headed to the shore to visit for the weekend. Maurizio’s family and I have been good friends probably for the last 15 years (his Mom and I grew up together!). So I was thrilled to get to spend some time with them! I’m so glad we did Maurizio’s pictures on Friday night because the entire rest of the weekend was a bust because of the rain. However, we got the pictures of Maurizio and his family in just in time! So we took some pictures at their beach house and up at the beach and I love how they turned out, I hope you do too!I just love this one – it’s my favorite from the shoot. It’s just so much fun!

Life As I Know It | July Self Portrait

As most of you know, we spent almost 2 weeks in Hawaii this month. As 1 big extended family + 1 girlfriend + 1 best friend, we headed out to O’ahu for what was an amazing family vacation. The Disney Vacation Club opened their newest resort in November of 2011 called Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa. Holy Moly was it fabulous! (Photos to be posted early next week – since there are 2,637 of them, it’s taking forever to go through them all!) July has been about relaxing and most importantly, being with family. The resort was an amazing way to relax and just catch up. We all read a ton of books, drank quite a few drinks, went paddle boarding, went in the pool, ocean and infinity 2 level hot tub and so much more. It was such a relaxing vacation, one that I know we will all remember for quite a while to come. There’s another fabulous vacation in the works for later this year, but right now, we’re just enjoying our Summer and our times together! Happy July!

Life As I Know It | Cooper Started Walking – South Jersey Photographer

Well as long as we waited, it finally happened. Our little boy started walking. And walking is an understatement. He’s just plain old running, sprinting even. He wants nothing to do with having his hand held or being carried, unless he’s exhausted. All he wants to do is walk everywhere and get into trouble. He’s clearing tables. Taking things out of the office trash cans. Changing the tv channels. Helping himself into the pantry snack closet. He’s a menace. I thought he was crazy before, but I was completely wrong.

Even though he’s making both Chas and I crazy, it’s an amazing time in our life. It’s truly a roller coaster. But I love every minute.

When Lindsey contacted me about doing family photos, I was thrilled. She and her Husband wanted to take family photos with their brand new 3 week old. Instantly I loved the idea of doing family photos instead of just a newborn session. This felt so much more intimate and natural to the brand new family. What an adorable family they make. Lindsey, Manny and brand new baby Kalani are just the sweetest family ever! So last week, they braved the blistering heat (because being from Texas, our heat is NOTHING!). I just love how these pictures turned out. So natural and so very them. Congratulations on your new little angel! She is completely precious!! Enjoy the photos!

Life As I Know It | May Self Portrait

So yes, I’m totally behind. I could say that it’s because I had Internet troubles late in the month of May (and that’s completely true). But I could also say because I’m a mom to a very energetic, attempting to walk 1 year old. And I could probably also say that I’m a busy working photographer as well. I’m just plain busy – which don’t get me wrong, is a very good thing. This month was about FIRSTS for me and for our family. May was a month for 1st birthdays, 1st birthday parties, first haircuts, first beach trips this year, and I could go on and on. But the moment that stands out to me is the time we spent as a family for Cooper’s first haircuts. Never more have I felt so “needed” by my little boy. He needed me the day he got his hair cut for the first time. He was literally melting into my arms due to the fear in his eyes while having his hair trimmed. So May’s self portrait was taken at the hair salon. Enjoy!

I think that some people are just born to be pregnant. And Cindy is totally one of those people. She’s quite possibly the most beautiful pregnant woman that I’ve ever photographed but certainly the prettiest pregnant woman I’ve ever seen. Cindy was just ‘glowing’ when she stepped out of the car. You can tell they’re going to be great parents! I can’t wait for your little bundle to arrive!! So we spent some time taking maternity pictures late last week and I think they look fabulous! Life As I Know It | Cooper’s First Birthday Party

Cooper turned 1. (As you all know by now.) But we threw him a party. A little red wagon themed birthday party – complete with fresh lemonade, popcorn, flexi-straws, cupcakes, coke bottles, red and white checked table cloths and a fabulous birthday cake. We invited all Cooper’s family and friends over to hang out in the sun for a good old fashioned bar-b-que. Everyone had a blast (even though it rained when we put dinner out) and even enjoyed swimming in the pool! We had so much fun hanging out and spending time with great friends!

Let’s start with the details! I did everything by hand. I thought it would be more fun that way! (And it was, however, it took so much longer than I ever could have expected!) I made a pennant banner with Cooper’s name and the matching red wagon that was on his invitations. We made lemonade signs, cupcake toppers, flags for the straws and decorated with photos of Coop. My favorite had to be the banner I made of photos from when he was a newborn, from each month, right through to his actual 1st birthday cake smash. It was so adorable. I used red and white checked table cloths to accent the red and yellow party colors. I picked up popcorn containers at the dollar store and glass Coke bottles at the grocery store, just as decor to add to his table. I think everything turned out so pretty.

My awesome friend Gina made the cake! Doesn’t it look fabulous!! Her Dad made the cake, complete with a popsicle stick and button wagon, painted to match the cake – so incredible cute!

We just LOVE that picture of Cooper (taken by my amazing friend Tina), so we knew we had to put it out for everyone to see. And talk about cuteness, my sister Emily ordered him a Superhero costume from SuperCapes. It’s adorable. It has a tshirt, cape, mask and arm bands to make him an awesome superhero! I LOVE IT!! What a great gift!

Lifestyle | Chase Turns Two

Cooper has a really good friend that he met at swim lessons. His name is Chase (or Chaser’ as he’s fondly called by his parents!). This little guy is a ball of energy and always on the move. And did I mention he’s cute as can be?!? Because he is. And his parents – I just LOVE them. They have to be the most down to earth, fun-loving people I’ve ever met. And what’s more is that our husbands are total motor heads, which is great because it gives Katie and I a break from having to talk about cars (LOL) and gives us time to talk about our kids and both of our passions for photography! (Katie’s a budding photographer and pretty darn good at it too!)

So when the invite to Chase’s 2nd birthday party came in the mail, we knew we’d be there. And I knew that it would be a fabulous opportunity to grab some informal family shots for Katie while we were hanging out. Since their formal shoot is coming up soon, we grabbed a few to document Chase’s awesome party!! We had a blast at your party Chase! Thanks for having us!

Life As I Know It | Memorial Day 2012

This year Memorial Day was an eventful weekend. With Chas working on Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, I decided to head to my Grandparent’s Shore House in Long Beach Island on Friday morning. I spent the afternoon with my Dad, just hanging out around the house! We watched Cooper play in the backyard and pull grass out of the back lawn. We had a great summer dinner grilled on the patio and enjoyed the early evening air. Cooper even headed up to the “Crow’s Nest” to play in the sand. (The crow’s nest is the benched area at the beach entrance at the top of our street. We’ve called it that since I think I was 7.)
We’re still trying to walk on our own, but until then, this is pretty much the view I have on a daily basis.
After playing up in the sand, it was time for a bath. However, in Long Beach Island, we NEVER shower inside. Let me make this perfectly clear. I am 27 years old and since I was 7, I have NEVER, not even once, showered in our inside showers. Not because we can’t, but because it’s the beach, showering in the outdoor shower is just something you do. However, we don’t torture the little ones and drag them into the shower, at least not until they can stand and walk on their own. So what do we do?!? We fill giant buckets, that usually hold toys or in Cooper’s case, recycling. I’m one of 17 grand children on this side, so this is a tradition that’s been going on for quite a while now. So I bleached the bucket, dragged it into the outdoor shower and filled it with warm water! Below, Cooper’s first tub at the beach!

Saturday: We headed to the beach. We drove to the 29th street beach because it’s easier for my 84 and 85 year old grandparents to walk down to the water. (The walk down the beach on 8th Street in Barnegat Light is easily a 1/2 a mile.) This trip marked Cooper’s 2nd time on the Barnegat Light beach. (His first time way 4th of July weekend 2011. Sunday. We decided that since Cooper had a rough night the night before we were heading home to Medford. (Let’s just say that I drove the LBI Blvd from 3:15am until 7:55am because the only place he would sleep and not cry was in my car.) I don’t actually have any pictures from Sunday – I think I was catatonic most of the day. Chas was the adult in charge being that I was non-responsive. Thank goodness he had off Sunday through to Wednesday morning.

Monday. Happy Memorial Day!! We spent most of the day in the pool! Our fabulous family friends came over for a little BBQ and some good times in the pool! I think everyone swam at some point that day – the water was gorgeous and it was so, so hot! Even the dogs swam in the pool!

Tuesday. A day of relaxing and some errands. What else would we do on a day off except go buy Cooper more stuff. We picked up some clothes at Carters for Hawaii (since that trip is rapidly approaching). And some toys for his birthday. But the evening was spent playing in the backyard. Just relaxing and chasing Cooper all over the yard. These are the kind of nights I live for. Just good old fashioned FUN.

Life As I Know It | Cooper’s First Birthday

When I woke him up at 8am, I said, “It’s your BIRTHDAY!” And of course, he’s 1, he had no idea what I was saying to him. In fact, I think he spent most of the day looking at me like I was crazy because I kept saying, “It’s your BIRTHDAY!” But he had a great birthday. We went to visit Chas at work, went out for birthday pizza, visited Uncle Jimmy in the hospital, we took 2 naps, played outside in the afternoon, had an awesome dinner and rode his new power wheels quad. After all of that was finished, it was time for the cake smash. Let’s just say as a photographer, you totally have hopes of how this will go. You want them to smash, play, lick, squish and eat the cake, essentially getting it all over themselves. I’ve shot tons of cake smashes. My son is the exception to how a cake smash is done. He wanted NOTHING to do with the cake. (Glad I spent 3 hours baking a big top cupcake!) He hated the texture of the icing and the way the cake felt. I caught a few pictures of him with the cake (where he wasn’t crying) but most of them make me want to cry.

Oh, and did I mention that it’s our dog Teaser’s birthday too?!? They were born on the same day, May 24, 2011. So Coop and Teaser played together a little bit – but Teaser’s big. He tends to knock Cooper over sometimes! Haha.

For a little boy who just turned one, he is such a happy kid. He’s got more toys then he knows what to do with. But more importantly, he’s loved by so many people. Happy 1st birthday Cooper!
