A decision that weighed much heavier on ME, than it did on Chas. It was such a trivial point in the big scheme of Cooper’s life, however it felt like we were choosing between YALE and Penn State!! By now, from the title of the post, you know the choice we were making. Let me tell you about Coop’s hair. It was growing ‘around’ his ears. He had a ‘rat tail’ starting to grow down the back of his neck. Our little boy was shaggy as can be. So before his first birthday photos, Chas said he needed a haircut. We held out to 10 days before the 1 year mark, so I think we did pretty well. But wow, was that a decision I didn’t want to make. Because it meant that my little ‘baby’ wasn’t actually a baby anymore. He’s a little toddler boy! But, on Tuesday, we took him to get a haircut at Metamorphasis Hair Salon. Chas wanted to take him to a barber where they serve beers and smoke cigars – that just wasn’t going to happen. So over to Metamorphasis to see Rene for his first haircut. It was a total success. Our little boy looks – ADORABLE, to say the least.

When your best friends son is this cute, it’s so hard to resist taking thousands of pictures of him. Maurizio is so full of energy. He’s just what my Dad would call a little “firecracker!” While I was there he showed me how he can roll over, while being changed – he’s super crafty for a 6 month old!! I love how smiley this little guy is! Hope you enjoy his pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them!

My photo was taken, but I just couldn’t get online to post it!

My April was spent looking down. Looking down on my son. We spent the whole month trying to walk. Countless hours were spent with him between my legs, arms reaching up to hold on to my 2 index fingers. And we walked. And walked. And walked. He’s made such progress. He’s now dragging my all over the place. He walks with a goal location – literally, he walks AT things. He knows exactly where he wants to go and does whatever he needs to do to make me walk him there. I think my favorite is when he drags me across the backyard, with such determination, to his swing set. He walks up to the swing, stops, and reaches his arms up towards the swing. It’s pretty adorable.

That’s how I spent my month. Looking down on my son, as he makes strides towards walking on his own!!

I feel like I’ve been running, editing, shooting, playing outside, etc and it’s been non-stop. For all those Mom photographers – you know how hard it is to balance work and playtime. But we try our best.

This past week, I did photos for a small school. The owners are past clients of mine (who I love to death!), so while studio photography isn’t normally my specialty, I jumped at the chance to see old friends again and play with some of the cutest kids ever. While I can’t post the photos online (because of legal reasons of course), I can tell you that they turned out so PERFECTLY. Every little one from the age of 3 months to kindergarten came in dressed to the nines. The last three days were filled with fast paced craziness, but I loved every minute of it.

But today when I finally sat down to blog, I decided that I needed to blog about some family playtime. Good old fashioned FUN and adventures. Cooper’s getting so big and so independent. While he still can’t walk on his own, he’s dragging me EVERYWHERE. It’s so cute how he pulls me across the backyard, up the little hill to the wood chipped play area and stops right in front of his swing. It melts your heart. So over the last week or so, we did a lot of playing outside.

This is Cooper’s best friend. (Since his Mom and I are best friends, it’s only natural that they be best friends too, they just don’t know it yet!) And it’s his first time on a swing set. Don’t you think he’s doing FABULOUSLY!!

A few days later we headed to the park (because Aunt Emily wanted to see what exactly Cooper does at the park).

Dancer extraordinaire. Now, you might think I’m biased because she’s my cousin, but I’m totally for serious when I say that she is pretty much the greatest dancer, ever. So when she called me and told me that she needed new head shots taken, I was so completely thrilled.

Like I said, she’s an amazing dancer. So fabulous in fact that she was just asked to join McDonald Selznick Associates (MSA) – which is one of the largest Dance Representation firms in the world. They’ve cast Britney, Madonna, Beyonce and Katy Perry world tours, just to name a few. They’ve put dancers in movies like Step Up, High School Musical and Burlesque. So they’re kind of a big deal. And so is she.

She’s been dancing for 15 years. She’s only 18, so that’s a long time. Her dream is to dance for Mia Michaels. And in case you don’t know who she is, she’s a fabulous choreographer. Pretty much the best in the industry. She’s decided to attend college at SUNY Purchase – so that she can commute back and forth to New York City for auditions and jobs. At 18, she’s accomplished SO MUCH.

What a gorgeous family they are. (And they just happen to be my cousins!) When Jen asked if I would mind taking some updated shots of their family for their home, I couldn’t have been more excited. They are the sweetest and cutest husband and wife ever. Married for a few years and just as in love as when they were dating. I just LOVE them. What do I love more?? Their sweet little 18 month old. I mean he’s just the spitting image of his Dad when he was little. (And I would know since there are ridiculous photos of his Dad and I when we were younger.) Anyways – love this session and their little family. I’m so happy with how this “lifestyle at home” shoot came out! PS – their front porch is just PERFECTION.

It only took us about 2 1/2 hours, with a stop of course because Cooper started to hate being in his car seat. And OH MY GOODNESS did we have a blast. My cousin-in-law, Jen and her husband Matt have a gorgeous little boy as well. Emmett is one of the cutest kids I’ve ever seen and looks just like his daddy did when he was little. Matt, the cousin closest in age to me out of 17 grandkids, tortured me my entire pre-teen years. But I think I’m stronger for it haha. My other cousin’s wife, Sarah also made the trip down to Fredericksburg to hang out for the weekend! Love seeing Sarah, she’s always so smiley!! So we spent the weekend playing with toys, going for walks, heading to the park, drinking margaritas, watching the new Footloose, eating bad fettucini alfredo, driving in circles around Fredericksburg to get Cooper to sleep and just plain good fun! Enjoy some of the pics from the trip. Matt, Jen and Emmett’s family session will be up later in the week on the blog! Eeek it’s cute!!

One of my favorite pictures from the weekend. It’s totally how I see these two growing up. Hanging out on a pick up truck, just like their dad’s do at the shore house while BBQ’ing. It’s how we’ve been raised and I hope they stay just as close as their parents are!!
