Well, as usual, my self portrait for the month is late. In my own defense, it’s because I’ve literally been SLAMMED under work. Christmas cards. Christmas portraits. Albums. It feels like it just never ends. However, the end is in sight – then it’ll be on to wrapping presents and finishing my tree skirt! Ha Ha…. But in November, I spent lots of time with Cooper (go figure). But this particular picture came from New York City – Rockefeller Center specifically. Spending time with my family at the holidays is my favorite thing – like ever. Christmas is my favorite holiday (with the excepption of my birthday) – so I spend lots of time singing and laughing and really jus enjoying my extremely large family during this time. So enjoy my November photo – my sister took it while my mom and Chas danced around like crazy people to get his attention – all he wanted to do was look at the tree! Happy December!

October is wedding month. To me it feels like every single wedding I had this year was in the month of October. Clearly that’s not the case, but I feel like I’ve had so many weddings this month. Every weekend I gear up to head out to photograph awesome couples’ weddings. I love every single minute of it!! Last weekend, my assistant Katie took this shot of me talking to the bridal party. I think I’m either directing traffic or telling the bridal party to walk ‘very, very slowly’. Either way, this pretty much sums up me during wedding season!!

Late is better than never, right?!? Good – glad you agree with me and that we’re all on the same page. September started what seemed like the craziest part of our year yet. Wedding season is more than in full swing – 1 have 1 weekend off from the middle of September to the middle of November. Busy is great – lets not lie, but it’s little moments like the ones below that make me wish I didn’t work every single weekend. On what felt like the first day of Fall, I took Cooper (along with my sister and my Mom) to Johnson’s Farm in Medford to get some Halloween decor. Mom needed cornstalks and pumpkins – Cooper just wanted to get everything. Excuse my lack of makeup – but I happen to LOVE this picture of Coop and I (mostly because he’s actually looking at the camera!). Happy September!

Better late than never, right?!? Well August had to be one of the craziest months I have ever experienced. I think I did a record number of shoots this month while still managing to find down time with my family. It was a pretty hectic month for me personally as well. But somewhere towards the middle of the month, I begged my fabulous sister Emily to help me on a shoot in North Jersey. (Since she’s so great with little ones, I knew this was right up her alley!) She was an amazing assistant. And it wasn’t until after the shoot, after I downloaded my cards, and started culling images that I found the photo below. It was stuck right in the middle of the session and caught me completely by surprise. The best part – I COULDN’T LOVE IT ANYMORE. If could be exposed better. It could be less centered. But to me, it’s perfect. Because its the only shot I have of myself from the whole month. It sums up August – it’s my life and I’m loving it!

(I should tell you I’m in the middle of a paved stream – coolest thing ever, even though I was barefoot and the cobblestones were digging into the arches of my feet. TOTALLY worth it for the end result!!)

As most of you know, we spent almost 2 weeks in Hawaii this month. As 1 big extended family + 1 girlfriend + 1 best friend, we headed out to O’ahu for what was an amazing family vacation. The Disney Vacation Club opened their newest resort in November of 2011 called Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa. Holy Moly was it fabulous! (Photos to be posted early next week – since there are 2,637 of them, it’s taking forever to go through them all!) July has been about relaxing and most importantly, being with family. The resort was an amazing way to relax and just catch up. We all read a ton of books, drank quite a few drinks, went paddle boarding, went in the pool, ocean and infinity 2 level hot tub and so much more. It was such a relaxing vacation, one that I know we will all remember for quite a while to come. There’s another fabulous vacation in the works for later this year, but right now, we’re just enjoying our Summer and our times together! Happy July!

June was a whirlwind. (Thus the reason my self portrait is late, by 6 days.) It felt like everything flew by. The picture below is from our 1st birthday picnic for Cooper! It was a great day with family and friends. Family seemed to be the theme for this month. We were with the immediate and the extended family quite a bit this month. And since family is so important to us….. I give you June’s self portrait.

So yes, I’m totally behind. I could say that it’s because I had Internet troubles late in the month of May (and that’s completely true). But I could also say because I’m a mom to a very energetic, attempting to walk 1 year old. And I could probably also say that I’m a busy working photographer as well. I’m just plain busy – which don’t get me wrong, is a very good thing. This month was about FIRSTS for me and for our family. May was a month for 1st birthdays, 1st birthday parties, first haircuts, first beach trips this year, and I could go on and on. But the moment that stands out to me is the time we spent as a family for Cooper’s first haircuts. Never more have I felt so “needed” by my little boy. He needed me the day he got his hair cut for the first time. He was literally melting into my arms due to the fear in his eyes while having his hair trimmed. So May’s self portrait was taken at the hair salon. Enjoy!

Now I know this is a little late, but in my defense, my website was down at the end of April, so I never was able to post my self portrait. My photo was taken, but I just couldn’t get online to post it!

My April was spent looking down. Looking down on my son. We spent the whole month trying to walk. Countless hours were spent with him between my legs, arms reaching up to hold on to my 2 index fingers. And we walked. And walked. And walked. He’s made such progress. He’s now dragging my all over the place. He walks with a goal location – literally, he walks AT things. He knows exactly where he wants to go and does whatever he needs to do to make me walk him there. I think my favorite is when he drags me across the backyard, with such determination, to his swing set. He walks up to the swing, stops, and reaches his arms up towards the swing. It’s pretty adorable.

That’s how I spent my month. Looking down on my son, as he makes strides towards walking on his own!!

Looking back on the month of March, it was filled with playing outside, enjoying the “Spring” air, visiting friends and family and just enjoying all the little moments in life. March marked Cooper’s 10 month birthday. It’s so amazing how different my life is from 10 months ago – pre-Cooper. He’s my whole world. That’s why all my self-portraits include him. He is so much of my everyday life that it doesn’t seem right to have my reflection on my month not feature him. Spring has sprung, which means that there’s lots more days outside and fun in the sun to come!!

Only one day late. That’s not too bad for the second month I’m doing this self portrait series. So this month Cooper and I spent a lot of time outside. The weather has just been so amazing here in Medford. It has been the most mild winter in what seems like forever. Some days I miss the smell of impending snow, but then I realize that we’re just that much closer to Spring and Summer. Our days have been filled with wagon rides, playing on the swing set, watching the dogs chase tennis balls and so much more. That’s why it only seemed right that my/our February self portrait take place outside. I absolutely love it.

(As you can see, I couldn’t pick just ONE photo for this month’s self portrait, but since they’re in one frame, that counts right?!?)
