Caitlin Scott Photography bio picture

About Caitlin

Name (who are you).

Caitlin Scott. Owner and lead photographer of Caitlin Scott Photography. I do it all – book it, shoot it, edit it, proof it, order it, deliver it, clean it, invoice it, and bill it. I’m a Cait of all trades.

Tell me about growing up and school.
I grew up in a big family. I’m the oldest of 4. We had 3 dogs and 2 horses. The animals are a big part of our family. The dogs were constantly going crazy because of all the people coming and going. I swear our back door should have been a revolving one. People came and went by the minute (and it’s still like that today). I grew up playing tennis and played through high school and college. That was my outlet for stress because there is nothing like hitting a tennis ball 80 miles an hour to really work the stress out. I went to Cabrini College in Radnor, PA and graduated with a degree in Marketing.

So why photography then?
I do not belong behind a desk. I have way too much energy to sit behind a desk. Ever since I was little my Mom always had a camera in my face. It's something that I got used to very quickly. By the time I was 6, I had the camera in her face. I've learned so much from my Mom, and photography was just a bonus.

What kind of cameras do you use?
Currently I’m shooting with Nikon D700's.

How do you describe your photographic style?
Simple and to the point. And completely photojournalistic.

What do you do when you aren’t shooting?
I like to play with my son, Cooper, watch movies, play with my puppy, Miley, and I love to read. I love books about mystical things and love stories. I love spending time with my husband, he's fabulous. I'm usually drinking Starbucks. And if I'm not doing any of those things then I'm probably watching Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, or Big Bang Theory – those are my guilty pleasures.

What sound or noise do you love?
I love the sound of the shutter on my camera opening and closing. Anyone’s shutter really. Usually stops me in my tracks if I’m out and about. But non-photographical sound – I would have to go with the sound of a good thunderstorm on a warm Summer night.

You in 5 different words.
Mom. Wife. Daughter. Sister. Photographer.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Disney World. I was there so many times as a child. It's the one place that is never changing and always brings a smile to my face.

Lifestyle | Cooper Plays Outside – South Jersey Wedding Photographer

On a random 50 degree day in January – I took Cooper outside to play with some of his new Christmas toys! This kid was so lucky and was given so many awesome Christmas presents! He’s too young to understand what exactly went on that day, but I know he enjoys everything he was given! He just LOVES playing with all of his trucks, wagons, riding toys, stackers, blocks, etc. So on that nice day in January, my dad hung Cooper’s first big boy swing in the backyard. The swing was one of Cooper’s many fabulous Christmas presents! So as soon as it was hung and since it was randomly warm in January, I took Coop outside to play! All bundled up, into the swing he went. And boy did he love it.

Boy was he happy in the swing. Just posing for Mommy….

How cute does this little man look in the swing! Love that smile!!
But then he got really sleepy….

So I decided to switch up the scenery for Coop, so we could play outside longer!! Into the wagon he went!! Don’t you just love his wagon?!?
So determined.

What would a play date outside be without Teaser playing right by Cooper’s side!

CHEEEEEEEEEEZ face….
This is my favorite. For sure.

That’s right Cooper, you have a tongue.
If GQ needed baby models, I’m convinced this face would land him the cover LOL….
I’ll end with a total Cooper face….I love that this is the face he wakes up with!!

If you loved Coop’s photos, leave him a comment below!!!

Life As I Know It | January Self Portrait

New year. New goals. I’m making one of my goals this year to make sure I do a self portrait post each month. I think it’s a must. I haven’t done it in the past and I wish I did. Lots of other photographer’s do them and I always love their photos. So now, I’m doing it.  I feel like Cooper and I are joined at the hip. (I mean, realistically we are, considering the schedule he’s on.) But it’s more than that. While I’m at my desk working, he’s in the door way in his jumper, bouncing all over the place. And when I’m wrapping client gifts, he’s right there on the floor attempting to pretend he knows how to crawl. While I’m making dinner, he’s in his exersaucer pushing every noise making toy it has. It’s really no different than it has been since the day he was born, except now I feel like he’s a boy. My little guy doesn’t feel so much like a baby anymore, but more like a toddler. So to savor the last baby moments I have…..
